Lonely and Blue Christmas

I hung the mistletoe
And I lit the fireplace
I baked the cookies
But no one’s here.
I cooked the ham
And I wrapped the gifts
I turned on the Christmas lights
But no one’s here.
I poured my hot chocolate
And I watched the snow fall outside
I cut the fruitcake
But no one’s here.
I sat in front of the fireplace
Under the mistletoe
I watched as the lights dazzled
While I ate the fruitcake
And sipped the hot chocolate
I savored the scents of the cookies and ham
But this Christmas is lonely and blue
‘Cause the one thing that’s missing is you.
